FAQs
Do I qualify for a Portugal visa?
In order to qualify for the D7 visa, you will need to demonstrate more than the Portuguese minimum wage as income each month. For 2024, the minimum wage is €820. This income should come from passive sources, like a pension, Social Security, rental income, or an annuity. If you are approaching retirement soon, or if you have significant savings, you may also be able to demonstrate savings that will last you until you are able to draw on a pension.
To qualify for the digital nomad visa, you must be able to prove income of at least 4 times the minimum wage per month (€3280 for 2024) for a single applicant. To include an adult dependent, add 50%. To include a child dependent, add 30%.
Questions? Please sign up for a consultation here.
When should I book your services?
We recommend starting the process at least 6 months before you want to move and up to a year before your target move date. It takes at least 2-3 months to secure your NIF, bank account, rental, and other paperwork required for the visa. The average approval wait time is then an additional 2-3 months.
Can I include a family member in my application? Who qualifies as a dependent?
Yes, main applicants can sponsor a spouse, domestic partner, children under 18, dependent children 18 and older, and dependent parents over 65.
What if my visa application is rejected?
Unsure if you qualify for your visa of choice? Get on the phone with us (sign up for a free consultation below) and we’ll let you know. We have a 100% approval rate for clients who meet qualifications.
Can I apply from Portugal?
No, unfortunately Portugal requires that you apply and attend an in-person visa appointment in your current country of legal residence.
Can I meet you in person?
Maybe! As our business is for expats, by expats, we are location independent and we travel often between our countries of operation. We do meet our clients in person from time to time if they are moving to our home bases in Costa Rica and Portugal or passing through.
