The question we hear most is simple: where in Portugal should I live? The honest answer is that you need to see it. Walk the streets, step inside the apartments, and ask your questions in person.
So we're taking a small group across the whole country. You'll meet the experts our clients rely on and go home with a shortlist and a clear next step.

★★★★★
“From our very first call, they took the time to get to know us and help us find the right place to call home in Portugal. They guided us through every step, from the housing search and local tour to our D7 visa and consulate appointment. What has impressed us most is how responsive and proactive they have been.”
“We're moving in a few weeks, and they'll even be with us at our AIMA appointment. If you're considering a move to Portugal, I can't recommend StartAbroad highly enough.”
Matt B. · StartAbroad client, moving to Portugal with family
“Our trip through Venice, Florence and Rome was extremely well planned, from the timing at each stop and the hotel rooms to the food tours and the guides, who gave tremendous insight into the history of each area. We couldn't be more positive. It was one of the best trips we have ever had.”

Who is this trip for?
Anyone thinking about a move to Portugal: retirees, remote workers, families and professionals. You don't need a visa, a city or a timeline yet. That's what the trip is for.
Can I come on my own?
Yes. The trip price is per person, based on two people sharing a room. If you're traveling on your own, a single room adds a supplement of $1,400.
How much walking is involved?
Walking is one of the best ways to get a feel for where you might live, so most days include short walks through the towns we visit, from Lisbon and Porto to Lagos, Tavira and Nazaré.
Most walks last one to two hours at a relaxed pace, with stops along the way. Portugal's historic towns are charming but not always easy underfoot. Expect cobblestones and tiled pavements that can be uneven or slippery, plus steep hills and stairs, especially in Lisbon, Óbidos and Porto. The Cascais and Estoril seafront, Vilamoura, Tavira and Aveiro are flatter. Coastal stops like Sagres, Nazaré and Peniche can be windy and sunny.
You should be comfortable walking for about an hour at a time on uneven ground, with some hills and steps. Some apartment showings may be in older buildings without elevators. Bring sturdy, comfortable shoes with good grip.
If a walk looks too demanding, you can skip it, relax at a café or explore on your own, and rejoin the group afterward. If you have health or mobility questions, please contact Taussig Travel before booking.
Will you help with my visa after the trip?
Yes. StartAbroad can handle your visa, NIF, bank account and housing search. Your $300 trip credit applies to our Get to Portugal or Concierge package when purchased within one year of the trip's end date (by June 6, 2028).
Can I stay longer?
Add the apartment week in Lisbon or Porto, or ask us about staying somewhere else.
Who do I contact with questions?
